Shizuku

Nestled among the vibrant Vietnamese restaurants of Melbourne’s iconic Victoria Street is SHIZUKU, an unfussy Japanese restaurant with a twist.

Named after the traditional word for ‘droplets’, SHIZUKU pays homage to the day-long process of preparing ramen from scratch where every drop counts.

Established in July 2013, SHIZUKU offers a combination of Izakaya-style plates and heartier, authentic dishes, as well as original recipes that aren’t available anywhere else. You won’t find overpriced sushi and touristy teppanyaki here. Instead, SHIZUKU uses quality ingredients and familiar Japanese flavours to bring you everything from bento boxes and donburi bowls to karaage popcorn chicken and sashimi tartare. Our kitchen team places equal importance on texture and taste, enabling them to create innovative dishes using a traditional touch.

With a focus on affordability and gracious Japanese hospitality, our dining room is elegant without the snobbery. Customers can book large tables, take a seat at an intimate spot for two, or dine solo by the window and watch colourful Victoria Street buzz with activity outside. Bookings are encouraged and BYO is welcome (corkage $5). At SHIZUKU, we believe that if we’re excited by our food, you will be too. If you’re after an Japanese dining experience with an imaginative menu that stands out from the crowd, we look forward to seeing you soon.
